The Player Pathway

The Player Pathway is designed to help all junior players achieve their full potential. Whether their goal is to be the best club player, become a coach or volunteer, or represent England or Great Britain, this pathway provides a structured environment for growth and development.

Talent Centres

A Talent Centre is a club recognised by England Hockey for its high-quality environment for developing young players. The accreditation is for the club's overall programme, not individual talent. The goal is to create a network of 100-120 centres, giving every interested child reasonable access to top-tier development opportunities.

Talent Academy

Talent Academies are for the highest potential players aged 15-18, offering multiple high-quality coaching and training opportunities most week.Players are selected for the squad through a robust process based on the England Hockey Player Profile.

County Hockey

Junior County (Sub Area) Hockey is the new name for the programmes previously known as Development and Academy Centres. It offers a standalone, representative development experience for U12-U17s, focusing on preparing them for competition. For some, this is a stepping stone to elite performance; for others, it will be the pinnacle of their representative journey, leading to lifelong involvement in the sport. Both outcomes are equally valued.
