v Sussex (7-2 win)
The match started at a slower pace, with Bucks building their way into the game. Halfway through the first half Sussex opened the scoring, somewhat against the run of play. Bucks then went straight down the opposite end and Harry Prior converted his first of the day from a penalty corner drag. Bucks then bagged themselves a second in the same manner. A tight score of 2-1 at halftime. The second half a few half time discussions from Bucks went straight onto the pitch, Bucks continued to be an ominous threat from penalty corners with Harry Prior scoring an impressive four and Trystan Jones hammering one in the bottom corner from a broken down penalty corner. Ollie Blundy put in a captain’s display, scoring the goal of the day as he put a volley in the top net and scoring a penalty stroke, after the Sussex GK missed the ball going for Theo Seymour. A strong start to Bucks’ BU14 campaign. as they won in style, 7-2.
v Hampshire (4-2 win)
Bucks started the more lively of the teams, dominating possession early and getting an early goal from Harry Prior tipping in a hit from Ollie Blundy. Sensing Hampshire were not quite in gear yet Bucks looked to pounce, grabbing themselves another goal through Trystan Jones’ reverse strike from a penalty corner and Harry Prior scored another drag flick. William Howes got in on the scoring action with an excellent finish near the back post, finishing with confidence. Bucks went into half time 4-0 up, but with a smaller squad than Sussex and Hampshire on the day, were under no illusions about the next half to come. Hampshire came back into the game and Bucks held them off with a few signs they were beginning to tire took hold, Tom Cook in goal making some excellent saves before Hampshire got one back. Bucks then pressed, getting excellent opportunities through Sam Baker and James King in midfield, which for the first time that day Bucks couldn’t quite finish. With around ten minutes to go Hampshire got their second goal and looked to pile on the pressure but couldn’t quite make it could as Bucks held their own. The game finished 4-2, an excellent day’s performances from Bucks BU14.
