Today the Bucks U17 Boys took on South London and Oxfordshire in South London. Taking the field with the bare 11 the boys where keen to get started.

Having only a 11 players for the day the style of hockey had to be changed and what a change it made, in the first game against South London Noah picked off a bad touch and drove down the right hand channel and played a lovely square ball which found Dylan eager to tap it in. Soon after that Michael found him self with loads of space to run into and was able to play the ball to Sam who found the back of the net from a near impossible angle. But credit to South London who came out in the second half eager to chase down the score line. They were able to create a string of short corners in quick succession. Finding the back of the net on the 3rd attempt. The game only grew with intensity, but it was South London who took advantage of the tiring legs and got a short corner in the final seconds and fired a drag flick into the top right corner nothing the keeper of defenders could do, finishing the game 2-2.

Next up it was Oxfordshire, with the lads really feeling the strain from the first match allowing the opponents a lot of time on the ball but the lads stood firm and picked off any threatning attack that came their way. It wasn’t until the second half where Oxford made the boys pay, some tired tackles saw a couple of Bucks player in the sin bin, having the one mad advantage Oxfordshire found the back of the net, and securing a 1 nil win.

A very tough day for the lads but every single player stood up and took charge even when they were extremely tired they kept pushing on and were a serious threat in front of goal all day.
