Bucks U17 Boys County games VS Sussex and Hampshire

Bucks’ county kicked started their Campaign against Sussex down in Hampshire this weekend. The boys started the game slow, conceding 2 in the first 7 minutes though misplaced passes allowing the Sussex team to capitalise. The lads started to build confidence through some very good and threating attacking plays. It was left back Ciaran who opened the scoring for Bucks with a well time run into the box and a classy finish into the bottom right-hand corner. In no time at all Aston made it 2-2 from a very well executed short corner finding the bottom corner for the second time of the game. The lads weren’t done there being very aggressive in the press allowed them to turn over possession high up the pitch, allowing forward Sam to latch onto a loose ball and fire a perfectly executed reverse shot across the keeper and into the back of the net. But the boys weren’t done there with a few short corners in quick succession saw the ball fall to Corey who calmly flicked the ball past everyone and found the back of the net giving the boys a 4-2 lead with 10 minutes to play. The Sussex team reacted really to going 4-2 down with them finding a new gear and it was their turn to apply the pressure, winning multiple short corners, resulting in them scoring 2 of them bringing them back into the game. Final score 4-4 both teams played excellent and the score line is a true reflection of it.

After a very quick turn around the boys took up hosts Hampshire, the tired legs were on show as Hampshire through out the game were able to win every loose ball and get numbers back in every attack we had. Bucks just weren’t at the races in this game, making life very easy for the Hampshire squad with some tired passing always found the Hampshire players. 3-0 to Hampshire at the Half time break. The second half started well for Bucks with Mikael making a great read of play cutting of a pass allowing him to break the D 1v1 with the keeper and calmly found the back of the net. This good run of play for the boys sadly didn’t last long with Hampshire taking fully advantage of the tired bodies scoring 2 goals in quick succession to finish the game 5-1 winner.
