The first triangular for the Bucks U17 girls, saw our newly formed squad work hard, play with confidence and calm heads.
First game against Hampshire was a good battle with a lot of final 3rd domination by both teams. We showed intelligence and team work every time we had the ball, making passes with pace and confidence. We defended wholeheartedly and worked for each other from start to finish, getting better and better with each passing minute. 0-0 at the end of the first half. At the start of the 2nd half unfortunately there were some mistakes, errors of judgement and hesitation which allowed Hampshire to score twice in quick succession but we never gave up and were rewarded with a goal. We were unlucky to not score again. It was a game which could’ve easily gone either way in the closing stages. The final score was 1-2 to Hampshire.
The Berkshire game started well, we took the game to berks and for the majority, we were the better team. Our determination paid off and with 16 minutes played we scored. A bit of luck and some indecisiveness meant we ended up conceding 2 minutes later. The girls regrouped and after another 2 minutes we scored again. Half time score 2-1. The second half saw Bucks getting tired and lacking the composure seen in the first half. This led to Berkshire breaking through the defence and scoring. Bucks regrouped and battled hard until the final whistle. Final score 2-2.
